KRISTIN KUBA
Kristin Kuba has been a competitive free diver for the past two years. Amazingly, despite being born and raised in Hawaii, she only learnt to swim in 2012.
KRISTIN’S STORY
Kristin Kuba was born and raised in Hawaii but never really connected with the ocean until she started seeing some of her friends spearfishing.
Inspired to learn she went out with her friends to explore the reef and learned how to swim about 6 years ago.
Curiosity grew and she took her first free diving course in 2015. This started her passion for exploring deeper depths and decided to focus on free diving. In 2017, Kristin entered her first free diving competitions. At the AIDA Free Diving World Championships, held in Roatan, Honduras she achieved depths of 68m/224ft.
In 2018, she competed alongside Daniel at the 2018 Vertical Blue competition diving achieving depths of 73m/240ft. She continues to quickly progress getting closer and closer to become the deepest female in the U.S.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Not content with being just a competitive free diver, Kristin is extremely passionate about underwater photography and film.
She handles all the media associated with the pair’s free diving exploits and Daniel’s free diving business, ‘Deep Freediving Instruction’.
You can find a lot of her work via the @deepfreediving instagram page.
Both Daniel and Kristin are both dedicated to the sport of free diving and work extremely to raise awareness and popularity.
Their passion is evident within their photos and films. There is no other couple like them in the sport of free diving in the U.S.
