DANIEL’S STORY
Daniel was always around the ocean at a young age, but he never really found his place in the water.
Daniel got into freediving through spearfishing when his father gave him his first Hawaiian sling for Christmas.
After many of years of trial and error, he reached out to Martin Stepanek (13 time freediving world record holder) with Freediving instructors International (Fii), he took Daniel under his wing to show him the ropes of deep diving in 2010. Daniel made huge progress when working alongside Martin, who later became a role model, guide and close friend.
After his training with Fii, he progressed quickly in spearfishing being placed in the top 10 for every spearfishing tournament he entered. Daniel also placed first in the Triple crown of spearfishing tournaments, against the best spear fisherman in Hawaii. The French international diving company “Beuchat” invited Daniel to be the first American to be part of their “international spearfishing team”. It was from that moment Daniel decided to pursue a career in competitive free diving.
Now entering his 4th year competing internationally, Daniel is among the best freedivers in the world.
