ANDREW COTTON

Professional big wave surfer, Andrew Cotton, has been riding the world’s biggest swells for the past 15 years.
Andrew’s journey into professional big wave surfing is both unusual and inspiring. A former plumber and lifeguard, he made the decision to quit his job and pursue his quest to rid the biggest waves on the planet.

CHASING THE 100FT GIANT

Andrew Cotton never set out to be a big wave surfer. But after his first trip to Hawaii, he found his calling and got a taste for big waves.
Every big wave surfer dreams of being the first surfer to ride a 100ft wave. Andrew is no different, but his focus is to ride the biggest waves he can in a  progressive way, while at the same time pushing the limits.

The sport of big wave surfing has grown rapidly in recent years. Big wave surfers simply don’t know how big of a wave can be generated then surfed. The bar is rising every year, and it’s the unknown that drives Andrew Cotton to pursue his big wave goals.

ANDREW COTTON’S STORY

Andrew Cotten hails from the South West of England. This in itself is unusual, as Britain has no reputation for real big waves.
Andrew Cotton has relentlessly pursued his goal and has overcome many challenges to become one of the world’s most respected big wave surfers. Having pioneered big wave spots in Ireland and Portugal, Andrew always has his sights on the next potential big wave spot.

Of course none of this comes easily, and Andrew has suffered injury set backs. However, his overall fitness and determination means that he’ll be riding big waves for many years to come.
